Metallic textures

Photo of Metal Background

Metallic textures

Metallic effects are, without a shadow of a doubt, extremely popular amongst web designers and game artists. The reasons behind this are simple - there are many places that these textures can be placed, and they can be used for many different themes. You can use metal textures as a background to depict toughness or something rusty with age, it's up to you. Brushed, discolored and oxidized, scratched rusty metal, different aged metallic textures, patina colors for stylish website design layouts - all of them are photography based, which is why they are so unique and eye catching.

Wood textures

Photo of pine wood Make an object appear to look like wood

Without texture the 3D environment is nothing more than a series of flat surfaces, with maybe a single color on a given surface. To make an object appear to look like wood, the Artist needs to capture a wood texture and put it on the object. Photographs can be used as the basis of the composition. Occasionally, they may need to be modified to appear seamless by the artist. 3d artists know that the texture they use can make the difference between a good or a great final image. FeaturePics has a huge portfolio of "wood grain" photographs to choose from. These are some examples of patterns and colors you can use to create texture variations for complete texture sets.

Textures to Enhance Colors

Picture of Light blue plasterwork of a Venetian mansion-house

For a long time, background patterns and textures were a no-no. Recently they have made a classy comeback. If you scan some of the latest ads and websites out there, you will notice these textures used in place of plain color. By using this method, the eye is caught, and the site looks much better. The images in this collection will help you to replace your flat color with an enhanced color.

Fire Fighting pictures

Fire Fighting
While dangerous, the oranges and reds in some of these images are facinating, and hypnotic. It takes many types of courage to fight this menace, and to appreciate the people who do it everyday. Check out our images related to firefighters responding to fires and emergencies.
